Why use a style coach?
“To spend time thinking about what to wear on a daily basis may sound trivial but what we do wear has a huge effect/influence on our mood, confidence and (rightly or wrongly) how others perceive us. Other people can’t or won’t discover who we are and what we have to offer (our personality, humor, intellect and warmth) if they are not ’attracted’ by our appearance in the first place” – Karen
When you leave the house in the morning you will generally come into contact with alot of people on a daily basis and while you might not particularly care on any given day what some one else thinks about you, you should always care about how you feel about yourself! Your self worth and esteem are not measured by what clothes you wear but they are definately measured by how you feel about you. Confidence is sexy! A smile is contagious! Being calm and avoiding stress is a great gift to yourself – investing in a style coach is about investing in yourself and there is no better investment I know.

Bold colour needs balance
can you see me?
While walking in town the other afternoon, a woman was walking towards me in a dress that was a vivid red with a large check print – that dress was all i saw, it was so loud that she seemed to disappear. Obviously i did see her - She was a petite, curvy, blonde, very feminine.
That dress over-powered her! Had she been a taller, darker version of herself, then the dress would have been balanced by other strong factors. Had the dress been ‘smaller’ ie a tunic or a top or a skirt that required more items to finish the look then the balance would have happened there.
Do not shy away from wearing color, far from it. However, if you are wearing a bold color then make sure it is balanced ie. that the amount of ‘space’ that one color takes up is in proportion/balanced by accents of size and color in other items, including you.
This can, of course apply to black too, particularly if garments are volumous and flowy.

’0′ghtie Knee-highs
now you see them, no you dont!
When you reveal your skin through your clothing it should be planned not flashed like a wardrobe malfunction. Catching a glimpse of someones’ bare leg above the top of a knee-high stocking is not a pretty nor sexy sight. These practical items are used very effectively to line our feet from the inside of our shoes or boots preventing rubbing and blisters – you have to love them for that! BUT … they are not meant to be exposed at the point where they are finished doing their job.
When wearing a skirt, whether it be long or short, with a split or otherwise for ease of movement, then wearing a full-length hose or tight is the one and only option. To wear a knee-high maybe a budget necessity but it that is the case then make sure the ‘end’ finishes inside the boot or shoe you are wearing. To do anything else is just plain unflattering and ugly.
Unless you intend for your short hose to be seen – then make them a statement!
Ladies put your best foot forward and make sure it is well covered!
Under-Cover Detective
in search a bra that will lift, conquer, divide or shape, fill and flatter
Finding a bra that ‘fits’ is a major undertaking! The word ‘fit’ means not only covering your breasts but also, supporting, uplifting, shaping,
minimising, dividing, etc. So when shopping for bras the number one rule is get fitted! ie. have a fitting specialist run a tape measure over you and give you the two magic digits. The numerical one being the width/size of your ribs, under your breast and the alphabetical one being your cup size (this may also contain double digits ie DD). But that is the easy part – all you had to do was stand there! Now, comes the hard part and that is going to the racks/shelves and collecting every bra that has that number on it and then trying it on! Serious! I tried on 15 last week and 3 fitted … My daughter tried on 12 and got 2. You will know when the ‘fit’ is right cause you will look in the mirror and smile.
However, if you can’t face this, and i truly understand because it is hard work go see Kirsten at Savoir in Christchurch, NZ. She is awesome and will do all the work for you while you just stand there.
