Body Balance
is not about acheiving perfection …
Perfect is defined as being flawless or having nothing to improve on. Perfect however, is far from the reality of anything. When you look at your face and body and feel that you are flawed ie too fat, too skinny, big nose, crooked teeth etc. you are comparing what you are focusing on to another ’image’ that you have in your mind of how you should look. This image will have been generated in all likeliehood by a digitised picture or by comparing yourself to others and judging yourself … others in turn are likely to be doing the same thing. Not necessarily with you but with someone/thing else.
When you look at the whole picture (body or face) it’s about balance. If the ‘parts’ are symetrical and in proportion or at least appear this way then you will be closer to acheiving ‘the perfect’ look.
To acheive this ‘appearance’ is relatively simple when you know how to mix and match types and colours of clothes and incorporate a good dose of confidence as well. Its about creating focus/drama where you want the attention to be focused and in turn drawing the eye/vision from the perceived flaw – finding a happy, smiling face will always attract attention!

Pick a Pocket
Your pocket!
Many of us need pockets to pop keys, lippy or coins into … it free’s up our hand’s when we not carrying a bag. However, while the pocket may be placed conveniently, if that pocket has the wrong detail and shape for your body you will be adding more weight than just that of what you are carrying.
To avoid this you must take note of the horizontal detail of the pocket and where that pocket is placed, especially when the pocket is top stitched in a contrast colour. When that line of stitching corresponds with the widest part of your body, you have just made yourself look heavier! - When the bottom of the pocket on your backside falls below your bum cheek you just made your self look shorter!
When in doubt (unless you are trying to add curves) pick garments that have no pockets. The same applies to pleats, never ever wear pants with a pleated front. The extra, obvious fabric will always add weight where as a pant that is skillfully cut will have been ‘eased’ to provide comfort to the wearer.

Why use a style coach?
“To spend time thinking about what to wear on a daily basis may sound trivial but what we do wear has a huge effect/influence on our mood, confidence and (rightly or wrongly) how others perceive us. Other people can’t or won’t discover who we are and what we have to offer (our personality, humor, intellect and warmth) if they are not ’attracted’ by our appearance in the first place” – Karen
When you leave the house in the morning you will generally come into contact with alot of people on a daily basis and while you might not particularly care on any given day what some one else thinks about you, you should always care about how you feel about yourself! Your self worth and esteem are not measured by what clothes you wear but they are definately measured by how you feel about you. Confidence is sexy! A smile is contagious! Being calm and avoiding stress is a great gift to yourself – investing in a style coach is about investing in yourself and there is no better investment I know.

Under-Cover Detective
in search a bra that will lift, conquer, divide or shape, fill and flatter
Finding a bra that ‘fits’ is a major undertaking! The word ‘fit’ means not only covering your breasts but also, supporting, uplifting, shaping,
minimising, dividing, etc. So when shopping for bras the number one rule is get fitted! ie. have a fitting specialist run a tape measure over you and give you the two magic digits. The numerical one being the width/size of your ribs, under your breast and the alphabetical one being your cup size (this may also contain double digits ie DD). But that is the easy part – all you had to do was stand there! Now, comes the hard part and that is going to the racks/shelves and collecting every bra that has that number on it and then trying it on! Serious! I tried on 15 last week and 3 fitted … My daughter tried on 12 and got 2. You will know when the ‘fit’ is right cause you will look in the mirror and smile.
However, if you can’t face this, and i truly understand because it is hard work go see Kirsten at Savoir in Christchurch, NZ. She is awesome and will do all the work for you while you just stand there.
